prompt: roasted chestnut #9: a lump of coal
summary: house rules: you have to kiss someone if you end up under the mistletoe together! hijinks ensue. (Tristan/Silas)
notes: the tenth of twenty five kisses under the mistletoe at a Christmas party Nikos is hosting

Tristan sighed. At least Silas didn't look any happier about this; in fact, judging by the look on Silas's face, he was even less thrilled at the idea of kissing Tristan than Tristan was about the idea of kissing him. Unconsciously, Tristan twined his fingers with Mariel's; she gave him a reassuring squeeze.

Silas clenched his jaw. He had stepped out of the kitchen for a moment, just moving out of the way while Nikos took the spiral ham out of the oven, and now he stood face-to-face with Tristan Delacroix, arguably the person he least wanted to smooch. He would rather kiss Tristan's wife, which he thought was saying something, or even Glory or Abel, or anyone, really, than the man who had caused him so many problems and then slept with his boyfriend - twice.

"Well, then," said Tristan, a little uncomfortably. He leaned to the side so he could see Nikos and called, "I don't suppose there's any way out of this?" but he tried not to get his hopes up.

"None whatsoever," agreed Nikos, cheerfully. He didn't delight in annoying others, but he was tipsy enough on mulled wine and holiday spirit that he wouldn't intervene and bend his own house rules to avoid the uncomfortable situation they now found themselves faced with.

"No avoiding it, then," said Tristan. He let go of Mariel's hand - it felt wrong, somehow, to hold his wife's hand while he kissed the boyfriend he had helped his friend cheat on - and tried not to wince as Silas leaned forward to place a quick kiss on his cheek.

Silas, burning red with embarrassment and anger, turned back into the kitchen and ladled out a generous helping of mulled wine from the pot on the stove. Koji kissed him good-naturedly.

"Ya were v'ry romantic," he said, laughing. When Silas frowned, Koji kissed him again, a little more passionately this time. "I c'n make it up ta ya later t'night," he murmured.
