word count: 133
rating: PG
pairing: eventually Koji/Tristan, implied Aya/Mariel/Tristan and Koji/Silas
warnings: unfaithfulness (spoilers, highlight to read the rest) although Tristan has discussed this with his partners and gotten their blessing, Koji has not and is cheating on his partner
summary: Tristan and Koji's "friend date" gets a lot friendlier after a few drinks. (1) Tristan is completely inexperienced.

"You know," said Tristan, and he was pleased to hear his voice slur only slightly as he spoke, "I've never…" He hadn't drank enough that night to say what he meant out loud, even to a scoundrel like Koji, and waved vaguely.

"Not once?" repeated Koji. His voice was steady, but he gaped in surprise.

Tristan shook his head. "Never even thought about it before," he shrugged. "You know, the girls." Lowering his voice, he added in an undertone, "Miss Scarlett's books were," he cleared his throat, "enlightening about some things and left me in the dark about others." He raised an eyebrow at Koji, watching him carefully to see if he understood.

Koji laughed. "Can't help ya with book learnin'," he drawled, "but maybe we can see about private lessons."

summary: Tristan and Koji's "friend date" gets a lot friendlier after a few drinks. (2) Koji and Tristan disagree about aesthetics.

"So what's yer type?" asked Koji, leaning against the bar with a glass of definitely-still-illegal whiskey in one hand.

Tristan, no slouch himself, put his own glass back down before he shrugged. "Redheads," he said, with a twinkle in his eye. Koji muttered. "Honestly, I hadn't thought of it. Mariel and I met at university." He said this as though it explained everything, and Koji thought that maybe for blue bloods like him who did things like go to Harvard University for multiple degrees, it did. He still didn't see the appeal; Mariel was bony and bitter in equal proportion.

"I go fer guys like Si," explained Koji, hoping to figure out Tristan's type. "Big. Handsome." Tristan shrugged again at that. This was something about which they would never see eye-to-eye. Without bothering to lower his voice - it was that kind of place - Koji continued, "Well endowed."

Later, Tristan felt very proud of himself that he did not sputter or start at this observation from his friend. He stared for a moment, then signaled the bartender for another whiskey, which he downed in one go. Koji gave this an approving nod.

"What about him?" suggested Koji, nodding towards the bartender as he sashayed away, but Tristan shook his head. "To femme? Not s'prised, I guess. Yer wife is a little," he trailed off. Tristan didn't bother scowling, as Koji hadn't said anything offensive. "Or him?" Koji indicated another man, tall and broad shouldered with a truly admirable mustache, dancing with a slender young fellow in a dapper suit. Tristan shook his head, but waved a hand in the direction of the man's partner.

"His friend, there," said Tristan. "I suppose."

Koji gave the stranger a once over, but shrugged him off as too skinny. He wrinkled his nose. "I like ya, man, but ya got no taste. No offense." Tristan rolled his eyes. "Can't setcha up together in case that big fella really is his boyfriend or his," at this, Koji actually cleared his throat. For the first time in their admittedly short acquaintance, Koji bit his tongue. Tristan guessed at what he meant and shook his head rapidly.

"Good looking sort of fellow," he said, "but Koji, I'm not going to," he gestured again, "with just anyone. I think the girls would be angry."

Koji laughed. "Smart man."

summary: Tristan and Koji's "friend date" gets a lot friendlier after a few drinks. (3) Tristan gets some "hands on" experience with Koji.

Koji leaned forward in his bar stool. For a moment, Tristan thought he lost his balance, but he hadn't consumed enough for that, not by far. Instead of tumbling to the floor as Tristan feared, he placed a kiss on Tristan's lips. Tristan's eyebrows shot up, but he didn't push Koji away; he supposed they had been leading up to this all evening - for weeks, really - and it wasn't unpleasant, although certainly scratchier and rougher than kissing either his wife or their girlfriend, who both agreed it would only be fair for him to get a chance with another man, if he was interested, since they both had each other or him.

Scientific curiosity blazed in Tristan. At first he remained distant, clinical and observing like an anthropologist, but then Koji's hands slid up the inseam of his trousers and Tristan lost track of his thoughts.
